Meredith College took time on April 20, 2012, to celebrate its employees at the annual Faculty and Staff Awards and Recognition Celebration.
The following faculty and staff were presented with awards:

PAULINE DAVIS PERRY AWARDSAssistant Professor of Chemistry Matthew Stutz, Award for Research and Publication. Stutz joined Meredith’s faculty in 2007.
Professor of Human Environmental Sciences Diane Ellis, Award for Excellence in Teaching. Ellis has been a member of Meredith’s faculty since 1982.
The Pauline Davis Perry Award for Research and Publication and/or Artistic Achievement is given to a faculty member who has done exceptional research, publication and/or artistic achievement. The Pauline Davis Perry Award for Excellence in Teaching is given to an outstanding teacher at Meredith.

LAURA HARRILL PRESIDENTIAL AWARDSDirector of the Learning Center and Instructor of English Carmen Caviness
Assistant Director of the Learning Center and Instructor of Mathematics Lara Dick
Both of this year’s Harrill award winners joined Meredith’s faculty in 2007.
The Laura Harrill Presidential Awards are presented to two faculty members each year, in recognition of their noteworthy contributions to the advancement of Meredith College.
HARRY AND MARION EBERLY FACULTY DEVELOPMENT AWARDAssociate Professor of Education Jennifer Olson, a member of Meredith’s faculty since 2006.
The Harry and Marion Eberly Faculty Development Awards are given to deserving faculty members for the purpose of helping them progress in their area of expertise.
IDA H. FRIDAY FACULTY AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN TEACHINGInstructor of Human Environmental Sciences Eunyoung Yang, a member of Meredith’s faculty since 2008.
The Ida H. Friday Award was established in 2010 by former UNC System President William Friday and his family in honor of his wife, Ida Friday, a 1941 Meredith graduate. The fund supports faculty development, with preference given to faculty members who are early in their careers.

The Access Award honors a member of the faculty or staff at Meredith College who has made significant contributions toward the advocacy, support, encouragement and success of students with disabilities. Nominations are collected from students with disabilities and are voted on by the Disability Services Panel.
ALLEN AND BARBARA PAGE PRESIDENTIAL STAFF AWARDDirector of Meredith Events Bill Brown, who joined Meredith’s staff in 1996.
Established in 2002, the Presidential Staff Award is given in recognition of exemplary service to the Meredith community. The Meredith College president chooses the recipient. The awards were renamed this year in honor of former vice president for academic programs Allen Page and his wife, Barbara Page, ’54.

STAFF RECOGNITION AWARDSAssociate Registrar Linda Wann, who joined Meredith’s staff in 1999, and Associate Director for Employer Dana Sumner, a member of Meredith’s staff since 2000.
Staff Recognition Awards are presented annually to two staff members who, through their job performance, have demonstrated initiative, teamwork, extra effort and outstanding customer service to the Meredith community.
In addition to the awards, retiring faculty member Bob Vance was honored. Vance is retiring after serving as a member of Meredith’s Department of Religious and Ethical Studies since 1981. Faculty and staff were also recognized for service awards for five, ten, 15, 20, 25 and 30+ years of service.
