How You Benefit from Meredith Gifts

The Meredith Fund Office has received a number of questions from faculty and staff about how their annual gifts support the College. It’s important to be clear and transparent with all of our donors, but especially with our faculty and staff, who give so much to Meredith every day.
Each year, The Meredith Fund is a committed line item in the budget and supports all areas on campus. To help show how these gifts are distributed throughout the College, below are the areas that receive the greatest budget percentages*. For example, Student Financial Assistance is 20% of the overall budget, and therefore receives 20% of the unrestricted, annual gifts this year.

Academic Programs 25%
General Business Operations 30% (i.e. Employee Benefits, Campus Facilities and Maintenance, Technology Services)
*These 2011-12 percentages are provided as round numbers and not exact figures.
Your gift helps keep Meredith moving forward.
Tuition is a large component of our revenue, but at approximately 80% of the budget, tuition is not enough to support the entire College. Gifts to Meredith help to close this gap and keep Meredith thriving for both students and employees.
Participation: Your gift is even more valuable than its dollar amount
Because many corporations and foundations look at employee giving participation when awarding grants, your gift--of any size--greatly matters. It illustrates the power we have to unite our resources and show our belief in Meredith.

You can give to The Meredith Fund (the annual, unrestricted fund), your department, or another special fund on campus.

In the last fiscal year, 31% of Meredith employee donors divided their gifts between multiple funds.
