Dancers from Meredith College attended the American College Dance Festival Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference at James Madison University February 29-March 3, 2012.
The festival included an adjudication of 39 dances from 20 colleges and universities. Adjudicators Nicole Stanton, Douglas Nielson and Monica Bill Barnes chose 12 dances, including both of Meredith College's entries, to showcase in the gala performance of the festival.
Meredith dancers performed “27 Million” by senior dance studies major Betsy Graves and “Prelude to Settling” by Associate Professor Carol Kyles Finley in the gala.
“Prelude,” which was created in collaboration with alumna Lacy Lowder, was one of three dances chosen to represent the Mid-Atlantic region at the National College Dance Festival Gala May 24-27, 2012, at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C.
The National College Dance Festival showcases dances selected by the adjudicators from each of the regional conferences based on their outstanding artistic excellence and merit. The primary objective of the National Festival is to highlight, on the national level, the outstanding quality of choreography and performance that is being created on college and university campuses.
