“Meredith Mayhem,” the College’s alumnae fundraising competition, is nearing its final rounds, and fundraising totals show that the effort is working. In the first week, the College received 187 gifts totaling more than $14,000. As the competition continues, giving to The Meredith Fund is $70,000 ahead of where it was in 2010.
The competition is also boosting online giving. In February 2011, The Meredith Fund received 321 online gifts, totaling $25,043, an improvement upon February 2010, when the annual fund received 101 online gifts totaling $9,700.
The goal of “Meredith Mayhem” is to engage the spirit of class competition to increase Meredith’s alumnae giving percentages. The national average for college giving is 23 percent. Last year, 17 percent of Meredith alumnae gave back to the institution.
The winning class will be named on April 4. To win, a class must have a higher percentage of participation than the class it is competing against that week.
