The Ellen Brewer House, Meredith College’s on-campus child care center, has earned a five star rating from the State of North Carolina. A five star rating is the highest recognition of quality in a child care center.
The Ellen Brewer House (EBH) is an infant-toddler program sponsored by the Child Development Program in the Department of Human Environmental Sciences at Meredith College. EBH serves children whose ages range from six weeks to two years of age. The primary goal of EBH is to provide a model infant program in which students enrolled in the child development program can observe and work.
The center is staffed by a full time director, Diana Haugk, and assistant director, Sarah Edwards.
The star rating system for child care centers is based on points earned in staff education and program standards. Program standards include assessment of quality on items such as teacher-child interaction, activities and program structure.
