Assistant Athletics Director/Sports Information Director Greg Jarvis attended the 2011 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Convention on June 26-29. Jarvis was named chair of the Ethics Committee of CoSIDA, he previously held the vice chair position. Jarvis also attended the 2011 North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association Annual Meeting on June 7 where he sits on the Executive Board.
Associate Professor of Art Shannon Johnstone is featured in "Mirror Image: Women Portraying Women," an exhibit at the NC Museum of Art that examines what it means to be a woman in today's culture, as seen through the eyes of North Carolina artists. As part of the exhibit, Johnstone participated in a panel discussion at the museum on June 24, 2011. "Mirror Image" artists, including Johnstone, were featured on UNC-TV's "North Carolina Now" on June 28, 2011. (Click here to view the story.) Tracy G. Knight, '89, administrative assistant in the School of Business, recently received the second place award in the Roanoke Review's 2010 Annual Fiction Contest for her short story, "Memories of Rescue." The Roanoke Review is an annual national journal which publishes poems and short fiction. It was established in 1967 by Henry Taylor, who was a past Roanoke College English professor and Pulitzer Prize recipient. The Roanoke Review is supported by Roanoke College in Salem, Va.
Professor of Human Environmental Sciences Deborah Tippett was interviewed for an Associated Press article about self-esteem and self-confidence in the millennial generation.
