International Affairs scholar Anne-Marie Slaughter will serve as the speaker for Meredith’s 2013 Commencement ceremony. Meredith will hold commencement exercises on Saturday, May 11, 2013, at 7 p.m. in J.S. Dorton Arena.
Anne-Marie Slaughter was the first woman to serve as director of policy planning for the United States Department of State. Upon leaving the State Department in 2011 she received the Secretary’s Distinguished Service Award for her work leading the Quadrennial Diplomacy and Development Review, as well as a Meritorious Honor Award from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and a Joint Civilian Service Commendation Award from the Supreme Allied Commander for Europe.
Meredith’s Head Soccer Coach Paul Smith will host the first annual Elite Winter Soccer Camp Saturday, February 2, 2013, for high school players committed to excellence on the field. Smith, his staff and a selection of players will lead the one-day camp filled with technical skills training and competition. more

With CDC predictions that the current flu season may be one of the worst in recent memory, Meredith College has taken precautions to help limit the flu impact on campus.
Experts say getting a flu shot is the best way to avoid getting the flu. Beginning in the fall semester, Meredith College held five flu vaccine clinics, vaccinating a total of 473 students, faculty and staff members. The Health Center sponsored the clinics.
