Dean of Students Ann Gleason was interviewed by The Chronicle of Higher Education for an article on college preparations for flu season. Click here to read the story. Meredith’s flu preparations were also included in a USA Today article on the topic.

 

Professor of English Eloise Grathwohl presented "The Role of Travel in Laxdaela Saga," at the  Annual Conference of the South Atlantic Modern Language Association in November 2012.

 

Associate Professor of Physics Bill Schmidt presented “Problem-solving Narratives in General Physics Courses” at the American Association of Physics Teachers 2013 Winter Meeting, New Orleans, LA, on Jan 7, 2013. Narrative-writing assignments help students to clarify and explicitly describe the thought processes necessary for mastery of problem-solving. 

 

Professor of Art Jane Terry is participating in the 8th Photographic Image Biennial Exhibition, which runs through February 23 at the Wellington B. Gray Gallery on the campus of East Carolina University. Juror Sam Wang selected 80 works by 66 artists from 20 states for inclusion in the exhibition.

 

Professor and Head of Human Environmental Sciences Deborah Tippett was recognized at the Kappa Omicron Nu Honor Society Board of Director's Meeting January 17-20 in Chicago for her six years of service to the board.  Her three-year term as chair of the board concluded in December of 2012. Tippett led the board in their long-range planning. Kappa Omicron Nu is a national honor society for students in Human Sciences with over 100 chapters in the colleges and universities in the U.S.
