Meredith College recently became a signatory school on the NC Independent Colleges & Universities Articulation Agreement (NCICUAA) with the North Carolina Community College System that will help more students complete four-year degrees at Meredith.
A Meredith faculty committee's year-long study of the NCICUAA resulted in a recommendation that Meredith College become a signatory school on the agreement. Meredith joins more than 20 other private institutions in North Carolina, and all UNC System schools, including Meredith's top competitors UNC-Chapel Hill, NC State, UNC-Greensboro and East Carolina University.
Students who complete the Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree at a North Carolina Community College will enter Meredith College as juniors. In addition to guaranteed transfer of all eligible credit hours, these students are eligible for additional need-based financial aid, and register early with the junior class.
“The primary benefit for students is the ability to plan and complete their A.A., A.S. or 44-General Education Core Diploma with the clear goal of completing their four-year degree at Meredith College,” said Vice President for Academic Planning Liz Wolfinger. “The transfer of course work is seamless, the students transfer all eligible courses in as work towards meeting the 124 credit requirement of a B.A. or B.S. degree with one of 32 majors.”
Community college students have a history of success at Meredith College. In 2010-11, two of the six Academic Achievement Awards, an award for graduating seniors who earned 4.0 GPAs, were given to students with community college credits.
