Strategic Planning Next Steps Announced

President Jo Allen, ’80, recently announced the next steps in the process of developing Meredith’s strategic plan, following a successful visioning conference held on January 27, 2012, and attended by faculty, staff, student leaders, alumnae and community leaders.

The Administrative Management Council’s February meeting focused on the results of this visioning conference, and a visioning conference for the student body was held on Monday, Feb. 20.

A summary of visioning conference findings will be presented on February 24, at 2 p.m. in Kresge Auditorium. Additional input from the campus community will be gathered through a survey that will focus on issues raised during the visioning process.

Allen also announced Goals and Objectives Teams, or “GO” Teams, who will work on areas already identified as central to the strategic plan:  academic excellence, co-curricular collaboration, IT/infrastructure enhancement, enrollment clarifications, financial stability, and enhanced visibility for the College.

“It is important for everyone to know that the assignment of GO teams is the first of many such formations over the course of our development, implementation, and assessment of a new strategic plan,” Allen said.

Allen has also established a Strategic Plan Steering Committee, co-chaired by Vice President for Business & Finance Craig Barfield and Senior Vice President for Academic Administration Denise Rotondo.

“As the senior leaders in charge of academic administration (our core function) and finance (the wherewithal to get things done), these two members of the Executive Leadership Team are critical to retaining the focus on academic excellence, resources and accountability for the plan,” Allen wrote in a message to faculty and staff.

The Steering Committee will include the co-chairs of each of the GO teams  and will hold monthly meetings throughout the development of the plan. The Steering Committee reports to the Executive Leadership Team and to President Allen. Jeannie Morelock, assistant to the president for communications, will serve as project manager for the steering committee and GO Teams.
