
With the deadline for freshmen deposits still several months away, Meredith College is seeing an increase in the number of women interested in attending.
As of February 15, freshmen applications are up by nearly 10% as compared to 2011 and by 11% as compared to 2010.
Highly qualified women have applied to be part of the incoming class of 2016. Applications to the College’s Honors program have increased by 34% and for talent scholarships in music and interior design by 15%. As a result, 179 students participated in Scholarship Weekend February 19-20 to compete for Talent Scholarships and for placement in the Honors and Teaching Fellows Programs.
Meredith College’s team earned second place in its division in the first Ethics Bowl sponsored by the North Carolina Independent Colleges & Universities (NCICU), February 10-11, 2012. Your participation, rather than the amount, is what counts! Our goal for the Faculty and Staff Initiative is 35% giving participation. Faculty and staff participation percentage is a consideration for corporations and foundations when deciding whether to award Meredith with funding for scholarships, professorships or major college projects. more
Meredith College will hold “Your Path to Success: Overcoming Roadblocks to Graduate School,” a workshop designed to help prospective graduate students overcome the roadblocks keeping them from applying for advanced study. more
A gift of more than $380,000 from the Margaret A. Cargill Foundation will support environmental sustainability programs at Meredith College. more
President Jo Allen, ’80, recently announced the next steps in the process of developing Meredith’s strategic plan, following a successful visioning conference held on January 27, 2012, and attended by faculty, staff, student leaders, alumnae and community leaders.
The Administrative Management Council’s February meeting focused on the results of this visioning conference, and a visioning conference for the student body was held on Monday, Feb. 20. more
