Wellness Release Time is Meredith’s Newest Employee Benefit
By Susan Drury-Rohner, Faculty-Staff Wellness Coordinator

In support of Meredith’s commitment to wellness, all eligible employees may, with supervisor approval, take up to 30-minutes of release time per day to participate in on-campus wellness programming. Release time for wellness participation will provide employees the opportunity to access and use wellness programming provided by WOW! (Working on Wellness at Work) and other recreational facilities made available to employees on the Meredith College campus.

Work with your supervisor and create your personal wellness release time. No more eating lunch on-the-go or at your desk (it’s not healthy). Create a plan that allows you to participate in lunch time programming and still have time to get your lunch. Don’t miss the 5 p.m. classes because your work day doesn’t officially end until 5:30 p.m. — plan these classes ahead of time. Or, create pockets of time where you can meet others across campus and participate in an activity together.

Here are some ideas on how you can use the time:

  • Attend our Group Exercise Classes – lunch (12:10) and after work (5:10)
  • Participate in the WellFit program – 12-week healthy lifestyle class (Tuesdays at 12:10)
  • De-stress with Mindfulness Meditation – 9-week session (Wednesdays at 12:10)
  • Find a Zen moment in our 8-week yoga program (Thursdays at 12:10)
  • Schedule a wellness coaching session at your convenience
  • Take time for a fitness evaluation or training session
  • Use our fitness and recreation facilities – fitness center, tennis courts, track, on-campus greenway, swimming pool and more!

Release time is paid time and does not have to be made up. Release time may not be accrued. Release time is to be recorded on the employees time card (where appropriate) under “other hours.” Employee must re-apply for Wellness Release Time each semester. Abuse of the privilege to participate in the Wellness Release Time benefit can result in the revocation of the privilege.
