Inauguration Steering Committee
Members Named

Jo AllenMeredith College will celebrate the inauguration of Dr. Jo Allen, ’80, as the College’s eighth president this spring.

 

The Inaugural Celebration will begin on the College’s Founders’ Day, February 27, 2012, and culminate with the Installation Service for President Allen on March 22 at 10 a.m. in Memorial Auditorium in downtown Raleigh.

 

Elizabeth Beam, ’72, and faculty members Professor of Human Environmental Sciences Deborah Tippett and Associate Professor of Mathematics Tim Hendrix are serving as the Inauguration Steering Committee Tri Chairs. Working with them will be the following steering committee members:

  • Anne Bryan, ’71, and Director of Development Cindy Godwin, ’74, – Alumnae Involvement subcommittee co-chairs;
  • Alex Holmes and Chaplain Stacy Pardue – Community Involvement and Service subcommittee co-chairs;
  • Sam Ewell and Assistant Professor of English Kelly Roberts, ’91, – Installation Ceremony subcommittee co-chairs;
  • Director of Meredith Events Bill Brown,  Director of Media Services John Kincheloe, and Assistant to the President for Communications Jeannie Morelock,’95,(MBA) – Local Arrangements subcommittee tri-chairs;
  • News Director Melyssa Allen – Printing and Publicity subcommittee chair; and
  • Dean of Students Ann Gleason and Caitlyn DeBona, ’14, – Student Involvement subcommittee co-chairs.

“Celebrating this event at Memorial Auditorium signals the desire to honor our roots in downtown Raleigh and to place Meredith in the heart of our home city,” said Board of Trustees Chair Nancy Cheek, ’63.
