Meredith College's annual Celebrating Student Achievement event will be held on Thursday, April 14. The event will focus on student achievement in academics, the arts, leadership and all aspects of college life.
The day begins with a breakfast and poster session from 7:45 – 9:15 a.m. in Johnson Hall Rotunda, and ends with departmental and school award ceremonies from 6-8 p.m. In between, dozens of Meredith College students will share results from their research experiences.
Highlights include:
Mid-day Showcase Focusing on Critical Thinking
The Celebrating Student Achievement mid-day showcase highlights interactive and engaging exhibits featuring the variety of student achievements connected with Meredith's 2010-11 campus theme, "Critical Thinking for Critical Times."
This element of CSA day is held in Carlyle Campbell Library; students are encouraged to think about the role of the library in supporting student achievement. Faculty and staff are invited to stop by after lunch for cupcakes and fun from 12:30 to 2 p.m. President Hartford will present brief remarks at 1 p.m.
This event was created to celebrate interesting student work that may not be captured during other parts of the day, including leadership and service achievements and co-curricular work.
There will be great variety to the achievements shared; all will be connected to thinking critically.
Stop by to explore these issues and more:
Because Meredith's Celebrating Student Achievement Day falls near Earth Day each year, the event attempts to connect student environmental and sustainability work to the campus theme as well. Come learn how students are thinking green at Meredith.
The showcase is collaboratively supported by Student Leadership and Service, the Office of Sustainability, the Office of Events, PRISM and Carlyle Campbell Library.
