Meredith to Hold First Take Our Daughters And Sons To Work® Day

Meredith College will hold the first on-campus Take Our Daughters And Sons To Work® Day on April 26, 2012.

Take Our Daughters And Sons To Work® Day is open to children between 8-15 years old. This national, public education program connects what children learn at school with the actual working world and helps girls and boys across the nation discover the power and possibilities associated with a balanced work and family life.

The event is being organized by Meredith’s Office of Human Resources. More than just a job shadow opportunity, the day will include structured activities to help children learn more about the work done at Meredith and their own work plans.

The program is a way for children “to learn more about the important work you do and to explore their own career possibilities,” said Human Resources Director Pam Davis.

Volunteers are also needed to help make the day a success.

“We’re looking for volunteers to briefly share information about the important work you do for Meredith,” Davis said. “This can take the form of a demonstration, participating in one of our activities, or allowing the girls and boys to interview you to learn more about your job and how you balance those responsibilities with other responsibilities.”

To sign up to volunteer or to participate with a child, call HR at ext. 8898 by April 17.
