
Meredith College’s annual Celebrating Student Achievement event will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2012. The event will focus on student achievement in academics, the arts, leadership and all aspects of college life.
The day begins with a breakfast and poster session from 7:45 – 9:15 a.m. in Johnson Hall Rotunda, and ends with departmental and school award ceremonies from 6:30-8 p.m. In between, dozens of Meredith College students will share results from their research experiences.
Presentation sessions include Discoveries in Biology; Poets, Painters and Prose; Historic Perspectives; and Ideas in Education.
Meredith College students and faculty will be participating in the 24-hour opening celebration for the Museum of Natural Sciences’ new Nature Research Center (NRC). more
This summer, Meredith’s Department of English will once again offer writing programs for women and girls. more
Meredith College’s 2012 Summer Reading Book selection is “The Glass Castle” by Jeannette Walls.
In “The Glass Castle,” Walls describes growing up in the desert of the American Southwest and then in a West Virginia mining town with her three siblings and the brilliant, unorthodox, irresponsible parents who manage at once to neglect them, love them, and teach them to face their fears. more
