Learning Center Director and English faculty member Carmen Christopher Caviness presented “Natural Born Cyborgs? How Neuroscience Explains Our Students’ Fascination With Unauthorized Technologies in the Classroom” at the 33rd Annual Spring Conference on the Teaching of Writing. The event was held at Old Dominion University with funding support by The Thistle Foundation.
Professor of Political Science Clyde Frazier’s review of “The Righteous Mind: Why Good People Are Divided by Politics and Religion” by Jonathan Haidt was published in the April 8 issue of The News & Observer. Read the review here.
Assistant Professor of Art Warner Hyde reviewed and critiqued graduate student portfolios as a juried guest professor at the National Council for the Education of Ceramic Arts (NCECA) conference in Seattle, Wash. It is the largest and most prestigious gathering of ceramic artists and educators from around the world.
Registrar Amanda Steele-Middleton and Professor of Psychology Cynthia Edwards are among the experts quoted by StudentAdvisor.com in a story about preparing for life after college. Read the story here.
Associate Professor of Economics Anne York was quoted in a Forbes.com article titled "The Most Unfair Cities to Be a Working Woman: Gender Pay Gap By the Numbers." York discussed the societal and economic reasons why the pay gap is larger in certain cities. The article, published April 13, can be viewed here.
