
Approximately 500 Meredith College students will receive degrees when the College holds commencement exercises on Saturday, May 11, 2013, in Dorton Arena.
International affairs scholar Anne-Marie Slaughter will deliver the commencement address. Slaughter was recently named the president of the New America Foundation. She will assume this new role on September 1. The New America Foundation is a nonprofit, nonpartisan public policy institute that invests in new ideas to address the next generation of challenges facing the United States. Slaughter is currently a member of the faculty at Princeton University, where she serves at the Bert G. Kerstetter, ’66, University Professor of Politics and International Affairs.
As the Class of 2013 listens to Slaughter and other commencement speakers, these students will most likely reflect on their Meredith experience. more
The Meredith Autism Program (MAP) recently commemorated Autism Awareness Month, which is held each April.
Among the activities suggested by advocates is wearing blue to draw attention to autism. MAP staff participated by wearing blue and Johnson Hall’s lights were also colored blue in honor of the month. more
This fall, Meredith College will launch a new branding awareness campaign that will provide the messages and strategy to emphasize the strength of the College’s academic programs, and what makes Meredith uniquely Meredith.
Input from Meredith community members, especially faculty and staff, was crucial role in the branding process. Meredith constituents participated in market research conducted by SimpsonScarborough in 2012, and in interviews with the team charged with shaping the branding initiative. more
Nearly 50 local law enforcement professionals attended Meredith’s A Salute to Women in Law Enforcement on April 30, 2013. Hosted by Meredith’s criminology program, the event recognized and thanked those who work in all areas of law enforcement.
Meredith College Athletic Director Jackie Myers and her staff hosted the 2013 Athletic Banquet April 24. The event highlighted athletic and academic achievements of the more than 100 student-athletes participating on one of Meredith’s seven varsity sports teams. more
