Film screening and Q&A with Filmmaker Alonso Alvarez Barreda

The Meredith College Department of Communication & Performing Arts presents Award Winning Writer & Director Alonso Alvarez Barreda.

The short films of Alonso Alvarez Barreda have been featured and honored in film festivals around the world including Cannes, New York, Heartland, Hollywood, and Telluride.

Mentored by award winning director Alejandro Monteverde, Alonso has received more than fifteen international awards and worldwide accolades. Originally from Tampico Tamaulipas, the Mexican writer/director Alonso Alvarez Barreda now resides in Los Angeles.

During his visit to Meredith College, three award winning films will be screened:
• El Descubrimiento, winner of Mexico’s humanitarian award
• Historia de un Letrero, Best Short Film 2007 Cannes Film Festival
• Crescendo, winner 16 international awards

There will be a Q&A with the filmmaker following the screenings. 

This event qualifies as an Academic / Cultural Event for General Education for Meredith students.
