Meredith College will commemorate Veterans Day with a special event, Honoring Women Veterans, on Wednesday, November 6, 2013, at 10 a.m. in Jones Chapel.
Honoring Women Veterans will feature Meredith College President Jo Allen and U.S. Air Force Col. Jeannie Leavitt.
Leavitt is Commander of the 4th Fighter Wing at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, Goldsboro, N.C. She leads one of the largest fighter wings in the United States Air Force, consisting of nearly 5,700 Airmen and civilians and home to the multi-role, all-weather F-15E Strike Eagle aircraft which are assigned to two operational and two training fighter squadrons, flying over 15,000 sorties and 24,000 hours a year.
Music will be provided by Vice President for Business & Finance Craig Barfield, organist, and the Meredith Chorale, under the direction of Professor of Music Fran Page. Millbrook High School Army JROTC Color Guard will also participate.
The community is welcome to join Meredith College students, faculty and staff for this event, which qualifies as an academic/cultural event in General Education for Meredith College students. A reception will follow in Johnson Hall Rotunda.
