Associate Professor of History Dan Fountain presents the 2014 Faculty Distinguished Lecture, “Christ in Chains.”
Join our own historian Dan Fountain as he takes us on a journey into our past. Fountain follows the testimony of slaves and others to find the answer to a very interesting question: When did Christianity really take hold in African American communities? Most historians say that happened before and during the Civil War years, when the message of Afro-Christianity encouraged perseverance and hope for deliverance. But is that what the historical records actually say? Follow a history detective in action as he works his way to uncover the power of freedom.
Join us at the Faculty Distinguished Lecture as we celebrate excellence in scholarship and research.
