Rachel Karaman, '11
Hometown: Fayetteville, NC
Major: Business Administration
Accomplishments: Business Administration major, minors in Marketing, International Business, and Religion.
While at Meredith, Rachel was a member of the American Marketing Association, the Student Business Advisory
Board, worked in the School of Business for 3 years, and was active in the Class of 2011 events and activities.
Career: "While at Meredith, my interest in opening my own business grew more than I ever expected.
Entrepreneurship runs in my family -- my dad owns his own business that I have worked in since I was young.
I knew it was something that I wanted to do someday; I just didn't know when or what! My professors,
while I was at Meredith, gave me the tools, knowledge, and passion to open a store where I enjoy
going to work every day. I opened a pet boutique in Cary, NC in August, 2012, with my sister and future
brother-in-law -- Woof Gang Bakery & Grooming."
Crystal Thornton , '10
Hometown: Portsmouth, VA
Major: Business Administration
Accomplishments: "CMA-CGM was very impressed with my resume and interviewing
skills, which I attribute to the many workshops provided by Meredith's Career
Center. Meredith's Business faculty, especially Dr. Liao and Dr. York, gave me
the real-world insight I needed to speak confidently during my interview process
at CMA-CGM. The internship I participated in while at Meredith gave me experience
in an office environment and reinforced software training I had received in BUS 250.
At Meredith, I was inducted into the honor society Omicron Delta Epsilon."
Career: Crystal works for CMA-CGM, an international shipping and logistics company
based in Marseilles, France. "I work as an Export Rates Analyst. I love my job and the
benefits are unmatched by most."

I also studied abroad in Mendoza, Argentina for a semester."
Career: Caitlin works as a Human Resources Administrator at
Precision Walls, Inc. in Cary, N.C.
"I perform many generalist activities and am regularly involved in Benefits and
401K administration. My Spanish skills have been a great asset to me in my field
and in this industry. I had several internships in marketing and finance throughout
college, but I did not realize HR was the field for me until my senior year. I have
enjoyed my first year working and feel the School of Business prepared me for the
challenges I have experienced in the working world."
