Cooperative Mentored Research Program
Meredith College undergraduate students have the opportunity to conduct cutting-edge research at a neighboring research institution, including Duke, UNC-Chapel Hill and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). While Meredith provides diverse research opportunities for undergraduate students with faculty mentors, outside research experiences allow students to practice advanced research skills under the mentorship of discipline-specific experts, which prepares them for graduate school and professional careers.
How it works
Meredith students are paired with a postdoctoral research associate or advanced graduate student to conduct research at one of the sponsoring institutions in the Triangle including Duke University, UNC-Chapel Hill and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Meredith College faculty also participate in the program, serving as liaisons between students and mentors. The research mentors may attend an undergraduate research mentoring workshop at Meredith College with the faculty liaisons and participate in Meredith College’s Celebrating Student Achievement (CSA) Day when students present their research.
