Soccer Comes Back from Halftime Deficit to Defeat Methodist

Fayetteville, N.C. – The Meredith soccer team traveled to Methodist in a USA South conference battle on Saturday. The Avenging Angels came back from a 1-0 halftime deficit to defeat the Monarchs 2-1.

Methodist (8-8-1, 4-2-1) drew first blood at the 17 minute mark as Jillian Reed scored on an assist from Erica Nath. The Monarchs took the one goal lead into the locker room at halftime.

Meredith (12-3-1, 6-1) came out the aggressor in the second half as Charlotte Talbert knotted things up on a header from a corner kick by Kristy Knight. Alex Calvert then scored the game winner with 10 minutes remaining on a header from a free kick by Talbert. Talbert came up strong with three of Meredith’s six points on the day.

Meredith next travels to Greensboro on Sunday at 2 p.m. in the second to last game of the regular season.
