Raleigh, N.C. - The Meredith soccer team capped off Senior Day on Sunday with a 5-1 win over N.C. Wesleyan. Maggie Hart, Kristy Knight and Maggie Barilich were honored at the beginning of today's match.
Meredith (10-3-1, 5-1 USA South) fell behind early to N.C. Wesleyan in the first ten minutes, as the Battling Bishops gained a goal from Hanna-Lenna Kokkonen. The Avenging Angels answered quickly, scoring a goal within one minute with a goal from Kristy Knight assisted by Emmy Errante. Alex Calvert scored the eventual game winner at the 14 minute mark off of a corner kick from Kristy Knight. Meredith took the 2-1 halftime lead.
At the start of the second half, Knight put in her second goal off an assist from Calvert. Calvert scored a second goal off of a corner kick from Knight. Calvert scored her last goal off of an assist from Carrie Talbert. Calvert gained her second hat trick of three goals on the season.
The Avenging Angels will next host Ripon College from Wisconsin on Tuesday at 7 p.m. |
