Raleigh, N.C. – The Meredith soccer team hosted Christopher Newport in a battle for first place in the USA South Conference. The Captains took the game 4-2 in a hard fought battle.

Christopher Newport (6-6-2, 4-0-1 USA South) got on the board first 36 minutes into the game with a goal from Sam Ciarivino. The Captains took the 1-0 lead into halftime.

Meredith (9-3-1, 4-1 USA South) got onto the board first in the second half, tying up the game 1-1 off of a goal from Alex Calvert assisted by Emmy Errante. CNU then went on a scoring spree to extend their lead by scoring three goals in an 11 minute time frame. Meredith finished the scoring off of an unassisted goal from Maggie Hart.

Meredith next hosts N.C. Wesleyan on Sunday at 2 p.m.
