Danville, Va. – The Meredith soccer team continued their winning ways in the USA South Conference by defeating Averett 5-1. With the win, Meredith moves to 8-2-1 and 3-0 in the conference.

Kristy Knight got Meredith (8-2-1, 3-0 USA South) on the board early, scoring off an assist from Maggie Hart at the 17 minute mark. Two minutes later, Meredith took a 2-0 advantage on an unassisted goal from Carrie Talbert. Alex Calvert added the third goal off an assist from Emmy Errante. The Avenging Angels held the 3-0 halftime lead.

Meredith got two more goals in the second half with an unassisted shot from Hart and one from Knight assisted by Errante. Averett (4-7, 1-4) scored a goal with 7 minutes left to bring the final score to 5-1.

Meredith next travels to Ferrum on Sunday at 2 p.m.
