Volleyball - Oct. 3
Raleigh, N.C. - The Meredith volleyball team hosted their second weekend of USA South tri-match action. The Avenging Angels gained a split defeating Mary Baldwin and losing to Averett.
Meredith (10-12, 5-6 USA South) hosted Averett in the first of two matches on the day. The Cougars downed the Avenging Angels in four hard fought sets, 3-1.
Meredith took the 1-0 advantage with a 25-20 win. Averett then went on to win the next three in close sets 25-23, 25-18, and 25-23.
The Avenging Angels were led by Morgan White with 17 kills and 18 digs. Cori Spade and Abbey Gupton both had eight kills each. MaryBeth Finegan went over the 1,000 career dig mark with her 14 digs against Averett.
In the last match of the day, Meredith hosted Mary Baldwin and defeated them 3-0. The Avenging Angels easily won 25-13, 25-14, 25-13.
Meredith was led by White and Cori Spade who both had seven kills.
Meredith next travels to Salem on Wednesday October 7.
