Soccer - Sept. 26
Raleigh, N.C. - The Meredith soccer team came out quick against Piedmont and never looked back, rolling to a 5-1 victory. The Avenging Angels showed great offensive and put pressure on one of the best teams in the Great South Athletic Conference.
Meredith (5-1-1) was first to get on the board, ten minutes into it with a goal from Alex Calvert off an assist from Sarah Murray. Kristy Knight gained a goal with 13 minutes into the half. Piedmont (6-2) then had a goal from Erin Pippen with 16 minutes into the half to cut the lead to 2-1. Alex Calvert scored her second goal off an assist from Kelsey Hukee to give Meredith the 3-1 halftime lead. The second half saw goals from Carrie Talbert and Jessie Breazeale.
Meredith next plays at Lynchburg (Va.) on Wednesday, Sept. 30 at 5 p.m. |
