Meredith Volleyball Picked to Finish Sixth in USA South

Fayetteville, N.C. - Christopher Newport University was picked in the preseason coaches' poll to win the USA South Athletic Conference volleyball title in 2009. Meredith College was picked to finish sixth in the ten team conference.

Christopher Newport received seven of the ten first place votes (78 points) as head coaches do not vote for their own teams in the balloting. Behind the Captains was N.C. Wesleyan College with 71 points and the remaining three first place votes. The Bishops were followed by Averett University, who finished third with 66 points and Greensboro College which placed fourth with 61 points. Methodist University and Meredith College rounded out the top-six with 46 and 40 points, respectively.

The Meredith volleyball team's regular season gets underway on Wednesday, September 2 as they travel to play Division II St. Andrews.
