The field of 47 has been announced for the 2009 Division III Women's Tennis NCAA Championships. Meredith (17-3) will head to the campus of Washington & Lee in Lexington, Va. to face Gwynedd-Mercy (Pa.) in the first round on Friday, May 8 at 2p.m. The Griffins (15-2) earned an automatic bid to the tournament with their first ever Colonial States Athletic Conference tournament championship. If the Avenging Angels get past Gwynedd-Mercy, then they would play the #5 nationally ranked host Generals on Saturday.
This is the third appearance for the Avenging Angels in the NCAA tournament and second in three years under the guidance of Head Coach Kelly Weaver. Meredith is coming off their first USA South Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Tournament Championship. The Meredith tennis team is now ranked #11 in the Atlantic South and Morgan Martin is #17 in singles.
