Meredith Captures USA South Tournament Championship by Dethroning Monarchs

The #2 Meredith tennis team captured their first ever USA South Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Tournament Championship defeating #1 Methodist University 5-4. The Angels avenge their regular season 5-4 loss to Methodist. With the win, Meredith will gain the automatic bid to the NCAA tournament for their second appearance in the last three years. The Meredith all tournament team was led by most valuable player Molly Parks, Morgan Martin, Kathryn Maples and Ashley Pearsall.

The #2 and #3 doubles teams for Meredith won their matches giving the Avenging Angels the 2-1 lead going into the singles portion. The #1 team of Morgan Martin and Kathryn Maples lost their match 8-0 and the #2 team of Brooke Baird and Ashley Pearsall won 8-4 to tie up the contest with Methodist 1-1. The number three team of Molly Parks and Caitlin Dillon were able to pull out their match 8-6 to give Meredith the 2-1 lead.

In singles play, #3 Maples and #6 Parks made quick work of their opponents to take a 4-1 lead. #4 Pearsall sealed the win for the Avenging Angels with a 7-5, 6-2 win.
