The Meredith softball team traveled to Newport News on Sunday to face Christopher Newport. The Captains took the double header, winning game one 10-2 and game two 9-0.

Game 1: Chris. Newport 10, Meredith 2 - 5 innings - Jordan Smith struck out six Chris. Newport batters, but the Captains were too much for Meredith. Hits from Meredith were Toni Tricarico, Jo Zachmeyer and Logan Hill.

Game 2: Chris. Newport 9, Meredith 0 - 5 innings - Val Sherrer started the game and Smith came in the fourth inning in relief. Hits for Meredith were from Smith and Sherrer.

Meredith next hosts Greensboro on Tuesday with first pitch at 2 p.m.
