Raleigh, N.C. - Feb. 12 The Meredith basketball team hosted USA South member Methodist on Thursday night. The Monarchs took the win and swept the season series, 84-68.
The Avenging Angels kept pace with the Monarchs the first half and went on a run late in the half. Meredith took a seven point lead on a three pointer by Megan Rahn with three minutes remaining in the half. Meredith held a 30-29 halftime advantage.
Methodist (14-7, 9-5 USA South) came out quick in the second half with a 10 point lead. Meredith (5-18, 1-15) was able to tie it back at 48-all with 12 minutes left. Methodist then went on a run to seal the game.
Meredith was led by Brittany Cornelius with a double-double of 25 points and 11 rebounds. She also provided seven assists and three steals. Kristin Stewart added 13 points and two rebounds. Megan Rahn and Hunter Johnson both scored six points.
