Quick Start Not Enough for Meredith

The Meredith basketball team completed their USA South road trip traveling to face The Pride of Greensboro College. Greensboro won the game 83-60 on a second half scoring streak after Meredith led early.

Meredith (4-12, 0-9 USA South) jumped out early on Greensboro (11-1, 5-0) and the Avenging Angels led for 17 of the first 19 minutes of the game. Meredith led by as many as 12 points in the first half on a jump shop by Whitley Turner to push the lead to 31-19 with 9:54 remaining. Greensboro cut into the lead and held a 42-40 half time advantage.

The second half saw Greensboro come out of the gate quickly with an 32-2 run to take the game.

Meredith was led by Brittany Cornelius with 19 points, five rebounds and four assists. Kristin Stewart had 10 points and eight rebounds. Lizzie Creech added seven points and six rebounds. Megan Rahn scored eight points.

Meredith next hosts cross-town and USA South rival on Thursday at 7 p.m. in Weatherspoon Gymnasium.
