2007 Cross Country Season Recap

The Avenging Angels cross country team had a great season finishing fourth in the USA South athletic conference and 27th in the 2007 NCAA Division III Cross Country South/Southeast Regional Women's Championship. The team is on the rise and looking to improve within the conference.

Meredith finished fourth in their first official appearance in the USA South Women's Cross Country Championships. Jessica Panameno led the way for the Avenging Angels finishing individually in tenth position. The top six runners for Meredith finished individually in the top 30 of the conference.

Panameno was named to the second team of the 2007 USA South Women’s Cross Country All Conference Team. Jessica Horne was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team. Panameno was named the USA South Athletic Conference Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week on September 17.

The Avenging Angels cross country team defeated Peace College in their inaugural on campus home meet against Peace College on Monday, October 15. Jessica Panameno led the way for the Avenging Angels posting a course record time of 24:09 on the 5k course.

Other events included the Salem College Cross Country Invitational, Greensboro Invitational and the Hagen Stone Invitational.


Avenging Angels Finish Fourth in USA South Cross Country Championships

Greensboro, NC - Meredith finished fourth in their first ever official appearance in the USA South Women's Cross Country Championships.  Jessica Panameno led the way for the Avenging Angels finishing in tenth position.

Panameno Named to Second Team of USA South All-Conference Cross Country

Fayetteville, N.C. – Jessica Panameno was named to the second team of the 2007 USA South Women’s Cross Country All Conference Team.  

The junior from Somerville, Mass. helped the Avenging Angels to a second place finish at the Salem Invitational 5K. Panameno placed 3rd out of 26 runners with a time of 23:32.  She also finished first in Meredith’s home meet against Peace College.  

Panameno was named the USA South Athletic Conference Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week on September 17.

Jessica Horne was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team.  The senior from Burgaw, N.C. was a consistent force and provided team leadership.


Meredith Runs By Peace in First-Ever Home Cross Country Meet

Raleigh, N.C. – The Avenging Angels cross country team defeated Peace College in their first-ever home meet against Peace College on Monday, October 15. 

Jessica Panameno led the way for the Avenging Angels posting a course record time of 24:09 on the 5k course.

Meredith took the top seven spots in the 11 runner field with Lauren Connell, Hannah Worley, Katie Helms, Diamond McClendon Jessica Horne, and Allison Alston finishing at the top.

Avenging Angels Keep Running

Greensboro, N.C. – The Meredith College Cross Country team traveled to Greensboro for the second time to compete at Hagen Stone Park.  The Avenging Angels completed along with Division I, II, III and NAIA team in the Hagen Stone Park Cross Country Invitational. 

Meredith College finished in fourth place out of seven Division III teams, finishing ahead of USA South members Greensboro College and Ferrum College.

Junior Jessica Jessica Panameno once again led the way for the Avenging Angels finishing with a time of 22:36.  Freshman Lauren McDonald was the next Meredith runner with a time of 23:45. 

The Avenging Angels get ready to host Peace College in their first-ever USA South home meet on campus.


Avenging Angels Compete in Greensboro

Greensboro, N.C. - The Avenging Angels Cross Country team competed in the Greensboro Invitational on September 29th. The team finished fourth. The top runners were Jessica Panameno and Lauren McDonald.

The team next returns to Hagen Stone course on October 6th to participate in the Hagen Stone Invitational.

Fayetteville, N.C. – The USA South Athletic Conference released their players of the week and Meredith College earned their first ever conference awards.

Meredith Placed Second at Salem

Winston Salem, N.C. – The Avenging Angels competed in their first meet of the year at the 3rd Annual Salem College Cross Country Invitational.  Meredith placed second place as a team.  The team was led by Junior Jessica Panameno who finished in third with a time of 23:32.  The Avenging Angels finished strong with five runners in the top ten.  Lauren McDonald (5th), Lauren Connell (7th), Dara Bifalco (8th), and Diamond McClendon (9th).

The team next travels to Greensboro on September 29 to participate in the Greensboro Invitational at Hagen Stone Park.

USA South Preseason Poll Released

Raleigh, N.C. - The Avenging Angels were picked for a sixth place finish in the USA South for the 2007 season. Meredith is coming off a third place finish as a non-conference member in the USA South Championships last year. The team begins their season on September 15 at the Salem College Cross County Invitational in Winston Salem.

Cross County Angels Finish Among the Top at the 2006 USA South Championships

Greensboro, N.C. - Meredith College participated as a non-conference member in the USA South Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships on October 28th. The Angels finished 3rd as a team with Audrey Darby finishing 14th overall. Meredith is very balanced and competing as a team. The top four runners placed between 14th-20th place.

Meredith will compete as a full member starting in the 2007 season.
