I
find great possibility in ambiguity embracing the shades of grey between
black and white. Art is a beautifully vulnerable, flexible discipline that
begs to be stretched. The sense of quiet stillness in my work creates a
unique effect, allowing the piece not only to speak, but also to listen.
Each viewer's relationship to the work gives a story back to be forever
kept within the crevassas of the artwork; I like to think of my work as
infused with these exchanges. Ideas of time are explored as my work seams
together elements of old and new. Processes of layering different media
and applying ancient Buddhist traditions of gold leaf can evoke snapshots
of memories representative of life journeys through time. Each piece helps
me to honor the past and to shape the future, learning more in the contact
of brush to canvas than I ever thought possible.
