All of my artwork is autobiographical in nature; each piece that I create reflects transformative moments in my life. My work is inspired by personal growth, insight, protectiveness and longing that revolve around my intimate relationships. As I make each piece I try to infuse it with special meaning. I relate objects that have symbolic meanings to where I have been, what I am feeling, and where I am going.
I am drawn towards the natural and organic qualities of water and birds. I appreciate the fluidity, simplicity, and delicacy they embody. They symbolize the dynamic qualities that represent the ever-changing events and emotions in my life. The aesthetic characteristics inherent in the motion of birds and water are reflected in the line quality that runs throughout my work. Through pen and ink, printmaking, and painting, I am able to achieve an expressive quality of line that conveys delicacy, simplicity, and fluidity.
Most of my work has a similar color palette composed primarily of blues and browns. These natural colors provide a peaceful and calming mood. I hope the aesthetic characteristics and colors in my work communicate a positive and optimistic feeling to others as well.
