In
Theory and Methods, Art Pre-K–5, students learn the relationship between
creative behavior and child growth through the visual arts as this relationship
is developed through research, practicum situations, and extensive early
field experience. Methods for teaching exceptional children is also studied.
Curriculum development is an integral part of the class.
Theory and Methods, Art in Middle School 6–8 is a study of teaching methodologies appropriate for middle school through research, practicum situations, and extensive early field experience. Attention is given to adolescent development and its effect on creative visual development and the need for visual expression. Art health hazards and curriculum development are among topics covered.
Theory
and Methods, Art in High School 9–12 is a study of methods for teaching
art in high school through research, practicum situations, and early field
experience. Unit development and computer competencies are among topics
covered.
