Academic & Career Planning offers a range of services.
Our staff can:
- Guide and support students in understanding her academic choices and choosing majors that reflect her interests, skills and values;
- Provide programs that support students experiencing academic difficulties;
- Connect students and career professionals, creating an opportunity to learn about careers and make connections that may lead to internships and full-time jobs;
- Offer an academic and career resource room with current literature that includes books on various career fields, choosing a major, how to be successful in college, internships, job search information, professional etiquette and graduate/professional school options;
- Help students use web-based career options to majors and career options;
- Workshops and courses on how to study, time management, goal setting, major exploration, and career planning seminars;
- Use assessment tools that provide students insight into their interests and skills and how these traits relate to selecting a major and career.
Academic advisors help students navigate academic planning, course selection, registration and monitor academic progress, while our career counselors assist students in navigating the employment community by helping them to develop a resume, interview successfully, prepare for and participate in on-and off-campus interviews, graduate school preparation and conduct a successful job search. Major programs include career fairs, career and academic panels, mock interviews and academic major selection events.
