Mathematics / Scholarships

The Paschal Scholars Program provides a unique opportunity for talented students to pursue careers in mathematics, computer science, science, and engineering. Paschal scholars participate in a specialized learning community.

The department presents awards to outstanding seniors and sophomores each year. The Charles A. Davis Award for Outstanding Seniors in Mathematics and Computer Science is presented to seniors in mathematics or computer science who have excelled in academics and/or service. Outstanding sophomores in mathematics and computer science are recognized by book awards.

The department also presents several scholarships to outstanding students each year. The Ernest F. Canaday Scholarship in Mathematics Award is presented to one or more rising seniors in mathematics for academic excellence and commitment to a career in mathematics.

The Vallie Tillotson Nelson Award for Outstanding Freshmen in Mathematics is presented to one or more outstanding freshmen in mathematics.

The Judge Edwin S. Preston Jr. and Dr. Dorothy K. Preston Scholarship in Statistics is presented annually to a rising senior who has exhibited outstanding work in statistics classes and who has declared a minor in statistics.

Amparo Zelaya, '13, is one of approximately 500 Meredith College students receiving degrees during the College's 2013 Commencement on May 11.

Strong Story | Megan Amanatides

Megan Amanatides, ’15, has grown as a leader, an athlete, and a scholar while at Meredith. Individual support from faculty and athletic staff, undergraduate research opportunities both at Meredith and in a large university setting, and an amazing internship led to a full-ride scholarship at a top graduate program in atmospheric sciences and geographic information systems.
