Meredith Mathematics & Science Institutes (MMSI) offers quality, residential professional development opportunities that focus on important mathematics and science content for K through High School educators. The summer Institutes are designed for all classroom teachers, coaches and lead teachers, principals, mathematics/science coordinators and supervisors.

2016 MMSI Professional Opportunities in Support of Teaching and Learning

MMSI courses are moving to the first week of August 2016. Sixteen professional development sessions, provided by experienced consultants, will focus on mathematics from kindergarten through calculus as well as elementary science sessions.

In addition, a special opportunity for principals, district supervisors and mathematics coordinators, and full-time coaches and lead teachers is the K-8 Meredith Mathematics LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE. Outstanding North Carolina educators will join national consultants for professional development that begins July 26-28 and continues January 6-7, 2017.

Additional Information About MMSI

Class size is limited, so consider organizing a school team to take advantage of the grade-level specific opportunities. The schedule is set so that individuals may attend multiple sessions.

Classes typically begin at 8:30 a.m. and end around 4:00 p.m. each day. All materials are included in the registration fee and lunches are provided for participants. Breakfast and dinner are free for dorm occupants.

We want to thank all of our consultants and attendees for a wonderful week of professional development during MMSI 2015! We had an amazing institute with close to 500 teachers attending 27 different professional development options. Below are some quotes from MMSI 2015.

This was a fabulous training! I have so much to take back to my co-workers and classroom. This left me ready to practice these things in my room.

This was my first time in attending MMSI and I thoroughly enjoyed my class. Not sure how or what you could do to improve it but if it possible I am sure you will.

This is my 4th year and every year has been a great experience.

Just keep offering sessions. Good PD is so hard to find and I can always count on these MMSI sessions to be of high quality.

You guys always do an excellent job sending me away revitalized and with great strategies.

I am inspired. Sometimes I come out of PD wondering how things are relevant to the courses I teach that are fourth year math and beyond. Thanks for the diversification.
