Chemistry is a “central science” that connects biology, engineering, physics, and medicine. As such, it serves as a foundational major for many different careers. A major in chemistry is an excellent stepping stone to careers in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, engineering, government, environmental agencies, and teaching. Meredith chemistry graduates have gone on to attend top graduate schools and professional programs including Yale Medical School, Brody School of Medicine, Duke University, University of Virginia, and University of Boulder - Colorado. Others have accepted professional positions at companies and organizations including Metabolon, KBI Biopharma, and the NC Department of Public Instruction.
