Biology / Program of Study
The biology program provides students with in-depth exposure to many areas of biological sciences, while fostering skills in applying natural science methodologies through investigative work and enhancing creative learning and thinking. Through the program, students sharpen their knowledge of biological principles and concepts and are able to apply that knowledge to laboratory and field experiments.
Bachelor of Arts with a major in Biology
Students earning a Bachelor of Arts in biology are required to complete 45-47 credit hours, which include 31-33 hours of biology courses, eight hours of physical science courses and six to seven hours of mathematics courses. Majors are also required to submit an electronic technology portfolio during their senior year.
Bachelor of Science with a major in Biology
Students earning a Bachelor of Science in biology are required to complete 58-60 credit hours, which include 35-37 hours of biology courses, 16 hours of physical science courses and 7-10 hours of mathematics courses. Majors are also required to submit an electronic technology portfolio during their senior year.
Minor in Biology
Students minoring in biology are required to complete 20 credit hours, including Principles in Biology and approved electives.
