Social Work Program

Social work class at Meredith.

The Meredith College Social Work Program welcomes all students who are interested in helping individuals, families, groups, organizations and communities address issues of concern.

Our Bachelor of Social Work degree program prepares students to enter practice and graduate study with a clear understanding of their personal and professional values, and an unwavering commitment to practice according to the principles of the National Association of Social Workers Code of Ethics.

The Social Work Program encourages the development of social consciousness and an understanding of people, both as unique individuals and as members of a particular culture and society. Courses are designed to present multiple perspectives as a solid foundation for employment or for continued study in graduate schools.

Volunteer experiences, service learning and field placements are available to provide students with the knowledge and experience necessary for a successful career in social work. Live client simulations also enrich the social work program.

The social work program is a professional program for applied practice and has been accredited by the Council on Social Work Education since 1975. Certification for teaching at all levels may be combined with a major in social work.
