The Ellen Brewer House (EBH) is an on-site early education program for infants and toddlers whose ages range between six weeks to two years. It was designed to serve as a demonstration program for undergraduate students at Meredith College majoring in Child Development, giving them an opportunity to observe children as they develop and to observe exemplary practices for children this age. The program has been recognized as an exemplary program by various state-wide agencies, such as Partnership for Inclusion.
As of October, 2016, The EBH on-site infant toddler program has again been issued a five-star license during its annual review by the NC Division of Child Development and Early Education. As part of the review process this year an additional assessment, the Infant-Toddler Environment Rating Scale, was completed by the NC Star Rated License Project. The focus of these assessments is on program standards, compliance with child care regulations, and staff education. A rating of five-stars means that EBH has received the highest rating possible. Congratulations to Carly Lantz and Tierra King for leading this successful evaluation.
Students are eligible for work-study opportunities once they complete CD 334 Infant Development. If interested in applying for work-study opportunities, students are to contact the EBH Director and submit an application. Final approval is given by the Child Development Faculty.
Families interested in placing their child on the waiting list for EBH can find the application on-line at Application to enroll infants/toddlers (PDF).
