The study of music at Meredith College offers two paths for music majors: the Bachelor of Arts in Music for those interested in pursuing a career in music and the Bachelor of Music in Music Education for those planning on teaching music in the schools, with K-12 licensure offered. The Certificate of Performance in Music is also offered to junior and senior music majors.
All music majors are offered many performance opportunities throughout their careers at Meredith, from weekly recitals, to soloing with the Raleigh Symphony Orchestra as a Concerto/Aria Competition winner, and many other performances on campus and throughout the community. All music majors perform many times in Carswell Concert Hall, home of two Steinway grand pianos.
Meredith music students learn from faculty who are artists in their own right and attest to the value of a career in music and the opportunities provided by the study of music. Music faculty includes composers and musicians who have performed and recorded nationally and internationally, nationally-recognized music educators, and a Steinway Artist. The Meredith music faculty members are eager to help you strengthen your talents and prepare you for your place in the music world.
