The English Department at Meredith provides an environment where students immerse themselves in literature — from ancient classics to modern works — written by the world's greatest writers. The department also prepares students to be effective and professional communicators.
Our graduates earn advanced degrees in English, law, library science, education, counseling, divinity school, and creative and professional writing from universities including UNC-Chapel Hill, Duke, Vanderbilt, the University of Virginia, and Columbia. They start businesses and nonprofits; they become attorneys, managers, fundraisers, editors, screenwriters, journalists, college professors, librarians, and teachers.
Meredith Legacy Scholar Monique Kreisman, ’15, double majored in English and Political Science, writing an honors thesis for each area of study. Now she’s using her Meredith education in law school.
