Academic Resources

We talk a lot about advanced technology, academic support and student research. This is what we mean.

Academic Advising

The mission of the Office of Academic Advising is to provide support and assistance to Meredith students in reaching their full academic potential through quality academic advising, study skills information, and proactive programs and interventions with academically at-risk students. The Office also serves as a resource for the training, development, and support of faculty in their advising relationships with Meredith students.

Meredith Technology Initiative (MTI)

Laptop A major effort to make technology integral to campus life. The Laptop Initiative provides every full-time first-year student with an IBM ThinkPad Laptop, a printer, a wireless networking card and other accessories; the laptop is replaced at the start of junior year. Students also receive hands-on training, online support services and regular workshops. Students live in wireless residence halls. In addition, public access computers, wireless access points and printers are spread across campus. Specialized labs—for art, music, computer science, foreign languages and more—offer high-end software and peripherals. Professors can teach in wireless classrooms and use software to manage class business, hold online discussion groups and support student research.

National Scholarships

Meredith College students of exceptional academic achievement and ambition may be candidates for a national scholarship or fellowship. Because of the highly competitive and involved appplication process, it is desireable to identify potential candidates several semesters prior to graduation. Interested students, or faculty with student nominations, should seek more information from the Meredith College faculty representative for a particular scholarship.
