Semester in Italy Travel Journals
This fall, seven students are in Meredith College’s semester long study abroad program in Sansepolcro, Italy.
In the picturesque Palazzo Alberti, a 16th-century palazzo, students will complete a language intensive program that provides a year’s worth of Italian study in one semester.
Another required course, Italy Today, focuses on contemporary Italian society, including politics, education and religion. It also includes a service learning component. Students are also required to complete Learn to Travel, Travel to Learn, a course designed to teach students both about the country in which they are traveling, and also, retrospectively about the countries they come from as well as about themselves as cultural beings.
Students will also have the option of completing electives in English, art history, color theory and a course focusing on the Jewish-Italian experience during World War II.
While they are abroad, Meredith students will be sending frequent reflections in a journal format. These entries will be posted on the web site regularly so that the Meredith community can follow along on their adventure in Sansepolcro.
Be sure to check back often to see where they are and what they are doing.
